A ‘drone testing range’, formally known as the UAS Flight Test Range is on target to have the first UAS in the air in October of this year! A potential game changer for the Australian drone ecosystem, it’s going to allow the testing of UAS in a cost-effective, purpose built, industry focused facility in the Queensland town of Cloncurry. Tasked with the job of delivering this requirement is QinetiQ Australia!

Having been selected by the Queensland Government to deliver the project, Andrew Crowe (virtually) sat down with key QinetiQ project team members Michael Andrae (General Manager Emerging Business) and Jim Parkes (Marketing and Communications) to discuss all aspects of the project.

Want to know about the timeline, planning considerations and key aspects of the UAS Flight Test Range? Have a listen. It’s an exciting development in our industry!
